Reveal vs Explo: Embedded Analytics Comparison for SaaS

Explo was acquired by Omni and its platform is being retired as customers migrate. Reveal is a true embedded analytics SDK you deploy inside your own stack — full white-label control, 30+ data sources, and one fixed price. Compare architecture, deployment, AI, and pricing before you inherit someone else’s migration.

Is Explo still a safe choice for embedded analytics?

As of August 2026: Omni acquired Explo in October 2025, and Omni has stated it will migrate the majority of Explo customers onto Omni before sunsetting the Explo platform. If you are on Explo, a migration is already scheduled. Reveal is a true embedded analytics SDK — you host it, you brand it, and you pay one fixed price.

Why Teams Are Moving Off Explo

Explo built a product teams genuinely liked — fast to stand up, clean dashboards, low engineering lift. The reason teams are leaving is not the product. It is that the platform they built on now belongs to someone else, and the migration is not optional. That makes this the one moment to ask whether a hosted analytics service was ever the right architecture for a product feature.

Why Reveal Is Better Than Explo

An architectural, capability, and economic comparison for engineering teams who care about ownership and security.

How Is Reveal Different From Explo Architecturally?

Explo gives you two ways to embed: a web component that loads Explo’s bundle, or an iframe. Either way, your customers’ analytics is rendered by Explo’s hosted service and served from Explo’s infrastructure.

Reveal works the other way around. You install an SDK built for your framework and deploy the Reveal server component into your own environment — cloud, on-premises, or hybrid. The query path, the rendering, and the data never leave your stack. That is the difference between analytics that lives in your product and analytics that lives in someone else’s and appears in yours.

Can I Fully Control the Look and Feel?

Your analytics should look like your product, not like an analytics vendor’s. Explo offers a style configurator for fonts, borders and shadows.

Reveal gives you full white-labeling: remove every trace of Reveal branding, style at the CSS level, and compose the UI from the components you actually want. Nothing on the page tells your customer that a third party built it, because in every meaningful sense your team did.

How Does Pricing Compare?

Explo publishes tiered pricing starting at $1,995 per month, scaling with customer groups and features — and Omni has said pricing gets set again when you migrate. So the cost you are budgeting today has two variables in it: how fast you grow, and what your new vendor decides.

Reveal is one fixed price. Unlimited users, unlimited dashboards, every data source, white-labeling included. Growing from 500 end users to 50,000 does not change the invoice, and no acquisition changes it either.

Which Platform Lets Me Choose My Own AI?

Reveal AI runs on the model you choose — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or your own endpoint — governed by your infrastructure and your data policy. Your analytics SDK should not be the thing that picks your AI vendor, or the thing that sends your customers’ data somewhere you did not approve. With Explo, the AI capability is the vendor’s, on the vendor’s model. If your security review has a question about where prompts and data go, that answer should be yours to give.

The proof of concept was running within hours, and most functionality worked out of the box. We estimated it would have taken nearly two years of development to build what Reveal gave us, so we put that time back into our core expertise: cost modeling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Omni acquired Explo in October 2025, and Explo became a wholly owned subsidiary of Omni. Explo’s founders joined Omni to support customer migrations. This page reflects the position published by Omni as of August 2026.

Omni has stated that Explo customers retain full platform access for 12 months following the acquisition, and that Omni intends to migrate the majority of customers onto the Omni platform before sunsetting Explo. The Explo product continues to operate during that transition — but it is no longer an independent long-term platform.

Omni has said it intends to migrate the majority of Explo customers to Omni, with timing planned per customer against their current contract. In practice, if you are on Explo you are planning a migration. The remaining decision is what you migrate to.

Omni has stated that existing pricing holds through the end of your current contract, and that new pricing is agreed prior to migration. So the price you are on today is not the price you are moving to. Reveal is one fixed price that does not change with user growth or at renewal.

Because the migration effort is already sunk. If you have to rebuild your customer-facing analytics regardless, that is the one moment to reconsider the architecture rather than inherit a platform someone else selected. Teams that want the analytics rendered inside their own application and infrastructure choose an SDK over a hosted service.

Explo supports both an iframe embed and a web component embed, and documents both. In either case the dashboard is rendered by Explo’s hosted service. Reveal takes a different approach: you install a framework-native SDK and run the Reveal server component in your own environment, so rendering and data access happen inside your stack.

Explo is a hosted analytics service you embed. Reveal is an SDK plus a server component you deploy. Reveal ships native support for React, Angular, Vue, Blazor, .NET, WinForms and WPF, and can be deployed in your cloud, on-premises, or hybrid. Your customers’ data does not leave your infrastructure.

Yes. Reveal’s server component runs in your environment — cloud, on-premises or hybrid — and connects directly to your data sources. There is no requirement to replicate data to a vendor-hosted service. Reveal supports SSO and JWT authentication, and Infragistics maintains SOC 2 and GDPR compliance.

No. Reveal connects to the same relational databases and warehouses you already query, across 30+ supported data sources. Your data stays where it is. The work in a migration is rebuilding dashboards, not moving data.

None of those. Reveal is one fixed price with unlimited users, unlimited dashboards and all supported data sources included. Going from 500 end users to 50,000 does not change what you pay. Explo publishes tiered pricing from $1,995 per month that scales with customer groups and features.

Yes. Reveal offers full white-labeling — remove all Reveal branding, control styling at the CSS level, and compose the interface from the components you want, so the analytics experience is indistinguishable from the rest of your product.

The one you choose. Reveal AI works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or your own endpoint, running under your infrastructure and your data policy. Your analytics vendor should not be the party selecting your AI provider or deciding where your customers’ data is processed.

Yes. Reveal includes a self-service dashboard designer you can expose to your own customers, so they can build and modify dashboards inside your product without engineering involvement on every request.

If you already use Omni for internal BI and want one platform for internal and customer-facing analytics, or if you require a vendor-maintained semantic layer, or if you have no frontend engineers and want everything configured through a hosted UI — Omni’s migration path is the shorter road. Reveal is built for teams that want the analytics experience owned, hosted and branded as part of their own product.

Your Analytics Vendor Changed. Your Roadmap Doesn’t Have To.

You are already facing a migration. Spend it on a platform you host, brand and control — with full white-labeling, 30+ data sources, the AI model of your choice, and one fixed price that does not move as you grow.
